Dermaplaning
Helps your makeup sit beautifully, particularly when you’ve got somewhere special to be.
There’s a common misconception that dermaplaning is primarily an exfoliation treatment.
Whilst it does remove some dead skin cells, there are other exfoliating treatments available which are far better for your long term skin health.
For me, dermaplaning is about removing excess vellus hair, commonly known as peach fuzz, particularly if you’re getting ready for a wedding, special event or big night out.
Makeup sits beautifully after dermaplaning. Removing that fine layer of facial hair allows foundation to sit more evenly, which is why it’s particularly popular before special occasions.
How often should you have dermaplaning?
I recommend no more than once every three months.
It’s not a treatment I recommend having every few weeks.
If your main concern is exfoliation, skin texture or improving your skin over the longer term, I’d recommend looking at other treatments that are better suited to those goals.
What happens during treatment?
I’ll thoroughly cleanse your skin before using a professional dermaplaning blade to remove the vellus hair.
I’ll then apply the appropriate post-treatment masks and serums for your skin.
Frequently asked questions
Does dermaplaning make facial hair grow back thicker?
No. Dermaplaning doesn’t change the thickness, colour or growth rate of vellus hair.
Is dermaplaning an exfoliation treatment?
It provides some surface exfoliation, but I wouldn’t recommend it as your main exfoliation treatment. There are more effective options if improving skin texture and long term skin health is your priority.
How often should I have dermaplaning?
I recommend no more than once every three months.
Is dermaplaning good before a wedding or special event?
Yes. Removing fine facial hair can help makeup sit more evenly. If you’ve never had dermaplaning before, I’d recommend trying it well ahead of your event rather than booking your first treatment immediately beforehand.
Can anyone have dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is suitable for many skin types, but if you have active inflammatory acne or irritated skin, it’s an absolute no.
