Skin Boosters
Targeted treatments for skin regeneration, hydration, dark circles, acne scarring and improving overall skin quality.
The clue is in the name. Skin boosters.
But for me, the clue is in the name. They’re boosters. They boost the results of what you’re already doing for your skin. They’re not a replacement for getting the foundations right.
There are hundreds of different skin boosters available, all with different formulations, ingredients and intended benefits.
Some are designed to improve hydration and skin quality. Others target concerns such as dark circles, fine lines, acne scarring or skin regeneration.
You wouldn’t paint a wall that hasn’t been plastered and expect a beautiful finish. It’s the same principle with your skin.
What you’re feeding your skin, how you’re looking after it every day, and the professional treatments you’re already having to stimulate collagen production are the first and most important steps before we look at skin boosters.
Skin boosters are something I add when there’s a particular concern we want to address, or an additional result we’re looking to achieve on top of collagen stimulation.
What can skin boosters help with?
Depending on the formulation, skin boosters can be used to improve:
Different products work in different ways. Some primarily improve hydration, while others contain ingredients intended to support tissue regeneration and repair.
Which skin booster is best?
That depends on your skin.
There are so many different formulations available that choosing one simply because you’ve seen it advertised makes very little sense.
If we’re addressing dark circles, that’s a different treatment consideration from acne scarring or improving hydration.
I’ll recommend the product and treatment approach that best suits your skin and what you’re trying to achieve.
How do skin boosters fit into your treatment plan?
I look at what you’re already doing for your skin before deciding what to add.
That includes your daily skincare, nutrition, internal skin health and any professional treatments you’re having.
If we’re already stimulating collagen production through microneedling, a skin booster may be useful for an additional concern, such as the delicate skin around your eyes or areas requiring more targeted support.
The aim is to get the best possible results from the treatments you’re investing in, rather than continually adding products and procedures without considering what your skin actually needs.
What happens during treatment?
Skin boosters are administered through small injections using a mesotherapy needle.
We’ll discuss the recommended product, treatment process, expected results and aftercare during your consultation.
Frequently asked questions
Can skin boosters help with dark circles?
Yes, certain skin boosters can improve the appearance of the under eye area. The cause of your dark circles will influence which treatment is suitable.
Can skin boosters help with acne scarring?
Certain regenerative formulations may be useful as part of an acne scarring treatment plan, depending on the type of scarring and the product used.
Are skin boosters the same as dermal fillers?
No, although some contain similar ingredients. Traditional dermal fillers are generally used to restore volume or change facial contours, whereas many skin boosters are designed to improve hydration and skin quality.
Can I have skin boosters without microneedling?
Yes. Although microneedling is my preferred foundation for collagen stimulation, skin boosters can also be used as individual treatments where appropriate.
How many treatments will I need?
That depends on the skin booster, the concern we’re addressing and your skin’s response.
